The Ink Is Ours is a lifestyle brand inspired by the rich history and cultural significance of Inkwell Beach in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard — a historic gathering place for generations of Black families, writers, and creatives. During a time when access and inclusion were denied, Inkwell Beach became a safe haven. It wasn’t just a vacation spot — it was a creative sanctuary. A place where Black excellence was visible, valued, and celebrated.Our mission is to preserve that spirit through fashion, storytelling, and cultural experiences. Every design we drop is an extension of that creative freedom — a wearable tribute to the heritage, resilience, and vision born on these shores. We’re not just remembering history. We’re wearing it, sharing it, and building on it.

But we’re not stopping at fashion.

Despite our undeniable influence on culture, Black creators remain vastly underrepresented in the positions that shape it. Fewer than 1% hold executive leadership roles in major studios. Our stories are often filtered, forgotten, or never funded. That’s why we launched The Ink the Future Foundation — our nonprofit arm created to rewrite that reality

.Through scholarships, creative grants, access to equipment, and support for youth entering film school or submitting work to festivals, we are investing in the next generation of Black storytellers. This is about more than opportunity — it’s about ownership. We’re raising up voices that will tell our stories, shape our culture, and control our narrative.
